A legacy lasts forever.
The new Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University will be spectacular. It’s all sharp angles, steel, glass, soaring spaces and has a fancy pants architect, Zaha Hadid. So it was only right that the fund raising brochure for the donor recognition wall reflected the same components. With a die cut that mimics the expansive angular shape, the brochure folds into a zig zag to allow glimpses of a photo printed on the back that reveals the shape, color, and textures of the architecture. Pearl sparkling paper exudes an understated elegance. Silver ink is printed under the process color for a little quiet glam. Let the community know you care and commit to becoming a donor to support the arts. Your place on the donor recognition wall will be visible to thousands and help establish a legacy for generations to come. Be a part of it!

Who would have known that EB was holding back?
These eggs are definitely from the Easter Bunny’s special stock. If you happen to get one, you’re keeping it! Photographer Tom Gennara wanted to give his A-list clients a lasting impression. And he did. These eggs are real, hand blown, and wrapped in a one-of-a-kind Polaroid transfer of an Easter lily. And as if that isn’t enough, the accompanying print brochure gives us glimpse into a day-in-the-life of the greenhouse migrant workers who cultivate and nourish them. The images are spectacular. The eggs are treasures. The clients are happy. And Tom is relieved to be done emptying eggs through a teeny tiny hole.

I’m running for my school.

In its’ eleventh year, Cooley’s 5K Race for Education has donated over $80,000 of proceeds to area schools. This downtown race uses uptown marketing including billboards, print material, magazine ads, clothing, medals, and amazing sponsors. We are proud to have contributed to a race that provides funding for education! And by the way, I would be running for art programs, but I just might be walking instead. What about you?

Go Green or Get Out of The Way!

This invitation to an exclusive brunch hosted by President Simon before the MSU Spartans vs. Minnesota Gophers game hosts enthusiastic Spartan supporters with Sparty, cheerleaders, the marching band and great food. The invitation pictured a gopher tail with a “pull here” tab. Pulling the invitation out of the green sleeve revealed “Got those Gophers by the tail!” We really would have liked it to be real fur, but it was still a winning concept. Gold Addy Award for us and another big win for our heroic Big Ten team. This is just the kind of “tail-gate” that we like. Go green! | Gold Addy

An Entire Evening of Fabulous-ness!

An annual fundraiser for the Cooley Alumni Association, the Evening of Good Taste boasts incredible food, a world tour of wines, international beers, a silent auction and a good cause – it’s everything we love, all rolled into one! A calligraphy wine bottle is illustrated from statements that describe the event. We used copper colored foil stamping on a cocoa metallic sheet and just a whisper of blue to set an elegant and sophisticated tone. Thanks to Kate Darnell for the custom calligraphy illustration. And thanks to Cooley for an event that is a blast to attend. Cheers!

Lost Logos

As designers, we are often asked to design logos and branding. Here are a few favorites that we didn’t use in favor of another great idea. Branding is an evolution and generates lots of ideas and concepts. Of course there are always a few that hit the editing floor. Ideas. Possibilities. Expressions. Less is more. Sorry to see them go.

TMP Architecture : Sports & Rec

SERIOUS FUN. And an old favorite. An entire brochure devoted to fun and games —  that’s my kind of work! This brochure was designed for use at trade shows to showcase TMP’s beautiful sports & recreation facilities. To encourage trade-show attendants and potential clients to keep it, the brochure was bound with a grommet and diecut across the top, making it both fun to hold and to look at.  | Addy Award
